About Grotta
Grotta beach on Naxos island acquired its name from the Italian word grotta, meaning cave. This beach is located in Naxos town in the settlement of Grotta which is the part of Naxos town just above the famous 'Portara' monument and the ferry port.
The Grotta location is where the Mycenaean city of Naxos, one of the Aegean region’s most significant civilizations, stood in ancient times. Some ancient remains can still be seen under the sea.
Travel Plan:
Paddling off from Saint John’s Beach and heading north, you will have the opportunity to avoid civilization for a few kilometers exploring remote beaches, caves and wildlife. You will paddle at a relaxed pace and this excursion is suitable for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. Your guides are fully qualified and very experienced and will make you feel relaxed and safe.
Cliff jumping and snorkeling are optional and fill the relaxed pace of the small-group tour.
Duration:
This sea kayaking day trip is approximately five hours, two and a half hours of total paddling and another two and a half hours on the beaches, swimming, snorkeling and having snacks and coffee. Later in the evening, full of nice pictures you will return to the starting point.
